Extra Credit

1. Explain what happened to the man that was killed by the subway and how the photographer was able to take the photo.
He was pushed on to the tracks by someone that is still yet unidentified. The photographer was able to take the photo supposedly by trying to warn the driver of the subway with the flash.

2. Why did the photographer say he took the photo?
The photographer said the he took the photo to warn the trains conductor.

3. Do you think the photographer should have taken the photo?
I think the photographer shouldn't had taken the photo , he instead should of helped the man out.

4. Do you think the photographer did the best thing he could have done in this situation? Why or why not?
No, the photographer could of turned into a hero for saving someones life instead of taking pictures before the subway killed the man.

5. Do you agree or disagree with the decision to run the photo on the front page of the New York Post? Explain why or why not.
I disagree because people would start judging the photographer in the way that he didn't do anything to save the mans life.
6. What is more important to a photojournalist, capturing images of life as it happens or stopping bad things from happening? Why or why not?
Capturing images as it happens. Why ? well because his a journalist and he is able to explain how it happened and what happened .
7. Do you think it is ever ethically acceptable for a photographer to involve himself/herself in a situation that he or she photographs? Explain why or why not.
It is acceptable for a photographer to get involved in the situation so he can be there explaining what happened.

8. Should photojournalists always avoid influencing events as they happen? Explain your answer.
A photojournalist should stand and watch it happen so he can have something to talk about in the paper.

9. After reading the responses from the professional photographers, what stands out as the most appropriate response for a photographer to this situation.
He should of done something to prevent the death of the man.

Final Exam Part 3

In this picture i see the rule of Lines . I know its the rule of lines because as you see the runners running you can also see the track and the white lines that pop out to divide the runners space and line to run on. The lines are horizontal and theres a vertical line at the start.

The rule used in this picture is Simplicity/Background. I know this because the background is just a solid color and their is nothing that can distract you from your focus. Its easier to see the subject in this picture because of the clear blue sky .

The rule used in this picture would be balance . i think this picture is using the composition of balance because you can see the woman jumping high in the air with her legs open and as you see that you can also think of symmetry and it would almost be the same thing.

The rule i picked for this picture was rule of thirds. I  think this picture used the rule of thirds because if you use the grid in this picture the object would take place in the right bottom corner . Also you need more space in the picture because you can't see where the object is going to land .

Final Exam

Alexander Madison-20 year old got shot yesterday around 4 pm in Chicago. They say he was involved in many problems of burglary which involved the shooting that caused him death.
Chinao Mej-19 Year old put himself on fire in Tokyo last week protesting freedom. One of the viewers  says he was screaming and ending his life burning to death for them.
4,000 pound Rhino got rescued from a wildfire Tuesday Afternoon . Helicopters helped and rescued these animals with no exit before it would be too late.

Self Portraits And Portraits

TIPS ;
  • Practice with people you know so that you are comfortable; people can sense when you aren't.
  • Create an especially revealing self-portrait by adding personal memorabilia surrounding your mirrored image, such as photos of yourself at various stages of your life, or anything that tells the viewer about your interests.
  • You can also capture a self-portrait by supporting your camera, then frame your picture and focus with a stand-in. Place a mirror just behind the camera, and do your final posing in the mirror.
Enviromental Portraits :
I liked and picked this picture because the background tells you a little bit of details of where she might be and also you can see she is bushing the horse back hair .
I liked and picked this picture because the punching bags and the background explained so much on what the subject was .

Casual Portraits :
I liked this and picked this photo because its a smile casual picture that was taken looking simple.
I also liked picked and liked this photo because its a casual one and can be an everyday picture.

PLAN:
My plan is to take a self portrait is being outside enjoying the cold weather either here in school or out of school , other than that my other plan was to take a picture with christmas lights enjoying the night out . The rules of composition i would probably use would be simplicity , rule of thirds and balancing.

Great Black and White Photographers Part 3

What caught my eyes on the pictures of this artists was that they mostly took place in the streets. Like the pictures below they both took place in a sidewalk. What made me choose this artist and the pictures was the kids since they looked happy !

I see these young kids grouped together sitting down drawing with chalk in the sidewalk . I see the little girl with a mad face expression like if she didn't want the boy next to her to draw on the side walk with her. The boy next to her looks entertained drawing whatever he's drawing. As you can see it seems like the little girl drew a little girl  with short hair , little arms and a funny shaped nose . I smell the air thats running its indescribable , its the scent of cars that pass by smelling kind of oil-lish. Smelling the smoke old cars give out it uncomfortable but the kids seem like they don't mind about it . I hear the people passing by talking about what the kids are drawing . People compliment there drawings , that they are very creative . I also hear the cars passing by slowing down to see the kids and their drawings . I taste the particles in the air , specially looking at the kids drawing and suddenly a fast car passes by and blows dirt . But the taste i have with these kids drawing in the sidewalk is joyful . I ask the kids if i can draw with them and they hand me the chalk . I feel the softness and hardness of the chalk . I can feel the little powder from the chalk that gets on my fingers and lay my radon the sidewalk and feel the roughness while drawing on it .

I see 8 little kids in the side of a sidewalk . One is almost sitting down, another one is bending down , one is in a bicycle and the other 5 are just standing up looking at what the others are doing . I also see this very interesting thing , it looks like if the kid in the bicycle is reflecting himself from the mirror . But as you see , the kids are picking up broken pieces of something . I smell that one scent of fresh clothes from a laundry . Also the scent of food , fresh hot bread and coffee . I hear the sound of glass being scrapped against the rough sidewalk and getting picked up by the kids . Its a sensitive sound that hurts my ears. People around are walking and talking going to the laundry or the shoe store . The taste being here is indescribable . Im not sure on how this an be explained . I feel the feeling when people are just staring at you & i feel the glass from the mirror as i help the kids pick up the pieces that fell towards me .

Mural Review

A theme we could probably use would be SPIRIT ! I think it would make Akins unique by showing spirit towards our school , supporting sports and showing of cheers up to the school . For Example , spirit towards our school can be shown in people who wear the AKINS shirt , baseball , basketball , softball  volleyball , soccer , track etc shirts . Many people walk around wearing them .

I think this might be worth taking our time because its something unique about our school and we support each other in showing spirit . Other students should care about this theme because of course they come to this school and they should make the effort and at least support the team sports or programs .

I think a phone camera would be easier to use since we walk all over the school grounds and we won't always have the cameras with us to take pictures of students .

The advantages would be that we would have the chance to get a good picture of school spirit and students can ask what is it for .

Im not sure on what we should use but maybe our phones can be easier since we walk around and see people and there shirts .

Africa

My reactions to this powerpoint were great. There is plenty of good pictures of different animals in Africa they all take place in different places and have looking at this pictures have many rule of compositions .

I chose this picture as my favorite because it caught my attention on how the background is kind of simple bright color , other than that the tree is a darker color and and it makes the three with the cheetah pop out .

The rules in this picture would be : Balance - because the cheetah is climbing up in a tree to get to the branch and other than that the tree looks side ways .
Maybe Simplicity - because the background is almost simple and it makes the tree pop out .

He uses a Pentax 67II with only two fixed lenses .
He likes his work with a combination of panoramas of animals and with dramatic landscapes .
He wanted to show animals in a state of being themselves.
He writes: "You wouldn't take a portrait of a human being from a hundred feet away and expect to capture their spirit; you'd move in close."

Academic Shoot Reflection

1. It was hard finding some rules for example simplicity , since almost every class we went to people were working in groups and it was just hard to get a single student with a basic background .

2 .While i was taking the pictures i  thought a lot on the focus on the subject , either so it won't look blurry and out of order or either so the photo can look good and well focus on the object .

3. If i could do the assignment i would really put my effort into it since this was the first time shooting in classes it was kind of hard remembering on the rules and ho you can take the pictures so they would look like the rules they were assign too .

4. I think the things i would keep the same is focusing nice in the pictures .

5. When going out for our next set of prompts i think the easiest rules would be framing , rule of thirds , and avoiding mergers .

6. The hardest rule would be simplicity since students are always moving around and its not easy trying to take a photo with a simple background that would draw the attention the object .

7. I think I'm good with every rule but its just a struggle to find simplicity and shoot it .

Academics Shoot

 Simplicity
I think i did good in following the rule of simplicity because the background of this picture is just solid sky blue and it causes attention on the tree . The subject would be the tree since the background is solid. I think its clear for people to know that the rule for this photo is simplicity.

Rule Of Thirds
I think i did good in following the rule of thirds because if you look at the ball at the right of the picture it looks like its just going to run out the photo . In this case the ball needs space to roll and bounce. The subject in this photo would be the big white ball . I think its clear for others to know what the rule is .

Lines
I think i did good in following the rule of lines because in the photo i took it involved flags and these flags have lines  i think it was a good example of lines . The subject in this photo will clearly be the flags and its lines facing down . This would look clear for others to know what rule it is .
Balance
I think i did kind of good in balance since the beakers are in a flat platform .The subject in this photo would be the beakers since they all have different kinds of liquids and in different levels  . This would look kind of hard to others to know is balance and it can also be rule of thirds .
Framing
I think i did good in this rule of framing . You can see in the right of the picture a part of framing in the photo. The subject would be the part of the second floor in between the fishbowl . This rule would be clear to others .

Avoiding Mergers
Finally I think this is a good photo for avoiding mergers . Since only part of the students body came out   doing his work. The subject in this photo would be the part of the body that was cut off . This rule would be clear for others as they see .

Academics Shoot Preview

 The Story
I chose this picture as the best story because if you pay close attention and think about it you can easily describe whats going on and maybe the kind of weather it is. In the picture i think the story is about giving out food maybe doing for some benefit or something .
 Action & Emotion
I chose this photo as action and emotion because you can see the girl in the red being like in a surprised emotion looking happy and excited and the girl next to it is maybe smiling / laughing . And while they are looking surprised you can see bubbles floating in the air causing the action and emotion .

Fills The Frame
I chose this photo because the two guys are mostly taking up all the space in the picture and they look so squeezed together with the smoke in the middle . You can also see the black background the makes the two guys pop out .

I picked this photo because it shows how the guy is really focused on what he's doing and you can see he is holding 2 beakers with chemicals inside wearing goggles . This Shows the rules of simplicity because they blurred out the back and balance because of the holding of the beakers .

1. Where do you think you could take photos like the ones you look at today? Gym , Chemistry Or electives
2. Whose classroom would you like to visit and take photos in? I would like to maybe visit a chemistry class where people are doing there work in a group or independent but in class where they are busy .
3. What will you do, as the photographer, to get amazing photos like you look at today? i will try to find different kinds of rules in class room i visit .
